Parade Volunteers

Parade volunteers will receive a commemorative t-shirt to wear at the event, and will be assigned to one of three sites: Fremont High School, along the route on Sunnyvale Saratoga Road and Remington Drive, or at the Sunnyvale Community Center. There are three volunteer jobs in the Centennial Parade:

Campus Host
What is the job?
Guide people at one of two locations: Fremont High School or the Sunnyvale Community Center.

  • FHS site: Come early to help set up signs for parade entry lineup. Meet people at Fremont High School before the parade to help guide them to where they are supposed to be. Help make sure people are properly lined up at the right time to step off in a timely way. Help clean up any debris after participants have left on parade route.
  • Community center site: Help direct and disperse people at the end of the route.

What are the requirements?

  • Must be available the morning of Sat., Aug. 25, 2012, from 7am to 1pm
  • Must have mobile phone that day. We will be using mobile phones to communicate.
  • Must be able to be on feet for several hours.
 Parade Escort
What is the job?
Meet assigned parade entrant/group at Fremont High School before the parade and walk with group along entire parade route. Guide parade group at appropriate pace. Help navigate the end of parade area.What are the requirements?

  • Must be available the morning of Sat., Aug. 25, 2012, from 7am to 1pm
  • Must have mobile phone that day. We will be using mobile phones to communicate.
  • Must be able to be on feet for several hours, and walk at least 1.25 miles.
 Parade Route Volunteer
What is the job?
Stand at various points along the parade route to make sure people don’t run out into the parade. Chat with spectators, be friendly.What are the requirements?

  • Must be available the morning of Sat., Aug. 25, 2012, from 7am to 1pm
  • Must have mobile phone that day. We will be using mobile phones to communicate.
  • Must be able to be on feet for several hours.
  • Must be comfortable talking to people
